The Indian Ocean Lodge is a villa-style building set in tropical gardens, located on the island's longest beach, two kilometres from the Vallee de Mai. The hotel's 32 air-conditioned guestrooms, over two floors, have light decor, laminate-wood flooring and patterned fabrics. All offer terraces or balconies with pool or garden views, separate sitting areas, satellite television, minibars, safes, sofas and coffee tables. The hotel's restaurant serves Creole and international cuisine, with open-air seating and views of the islands of Cousin and Cousine. Refreshments and tropical cocktails are also available at the hotel's poolside bar, and the pool has sunloungers and umbrellas, with beach views. Seaweed is removed daily from the beach for guests' convenience. The front desk has multilingual staff that can assist with transport, tour assistance and entertainment bookings, free transport can be arranged to nearby beaches, and there is free parking onsite for those arriving by car. The beach offers a variety of water sports including deep-sea fishing and scuba diving, while excursions can be arranged to neighbouring islands, such as the island of Cousin, where there is a rare bird sanctuary. The Vallei de Mai, a world heritage site and well worth a visit, is two kilometres from the hotel, and Anse Volbert and Anse Lazio beaches are both four kilometres, and five kilometres from the beach respectively. Praslin Airport is two kilometres (one mile) from the hotel, a driving time of approximately seven minutes.

Taxi is the recommended means of getting to the hotel and a typical fare will cost approx. 50 SRP. A car is recommended for independently exploring the island. Cycling is also a good way to get around.
