The Akabar Hotel is located in Marrakech, Morocco, within 500 metres of the city centre, one kilometre of the souks on the main square and five kilometres of Marrakech Menara airport.

Hotel Features.
The Akabar Hotel is a modern terracotta-coloured hotel situated in the beautiful Hivernage district of Marrakech. Typically Moroccan, the lobby features polished marble floors, tall pillars and arched windows. The outdoor pool is shaded by palm trees and has a shallow area for children. Staff can arrange room service, express check-in and check-out and concierge services.

The Akabar's richly decorated restaurant Tafoukt opens out onto a terrace and serves Moroccan and French dishes in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Coffee is available in the lobby and the hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast.

There are 50 guestrooms built over four floors all opening out onto balconies. Rooms are decorated in warm colours complimented by North-African style wood furniture and richly coloured soft furnishings. Expert Tip. For a contrast to the Marrakech hustle and bustle, head for Le Jardin Majorelle. Cool and tranquil, the garden was created by artist Jacques Majorelle and has a huge cactus collection, flowers, an attractive blue villa and turtle-filled streams and ponds.

Driving Directions

From Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK):
Distance to Akabar Hotel is 5 kilometres, approximately 10 minutes' drive.

Getting there.
Two types of taxi are available at the airport: shared taxis (Grands Taxis) can seat six people, and private cabs (Petits Taxis) are for up to three passengers. The fare to the city centre should be approximately 50 MAD-60 MAD, and should be agreed in advance. The number 11 bus runs every 20-30 minutes to Djemma el Fna square, in the city centre. Services can be unreliable. The fare for a single journey is about 3 MAD. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Marrakech city centre is best explored by foot, as cars are unable to reach many of the narrow lanes in the Medina. Sand-coloured Petits Taxis can be used for short trips, and Grand Taxis are ideal for trips further afield. Horse-drawn carriages are a good way to travel around Marrakech, but the price should be agreed before travelling. Buses are regular and inexpensive, but can be overcrowded.
